Extech Instruments approached Analytic Advisors to assist their development of an electrochemical pen probe capable of measuring ion-characteristic redox equilibria in solution. Also part of the proposed development was the formulation of a solid reagent  tablet to be used as sample preparation and in conjunction with the sensor. Over the course of the cooperation period,  elements of the hand held sensor probe were successfully redesigned. The  performed changes stabilized the redox-potential over a set period and  rendered the resulting signal reproducible and accurate. The solid reagent formulation was optimized for best analyte sensitivity.  The overall development initiative yielded a functional redox electrode pen probe  which is now sold as a commercial product.
